Student and PG shifting in Dehradun
Student shifting in Dehradun is rarely a full house. It is a single bed, a mattress, a study table, a cooler, maybe a small fridge and a stack of cartons, going from one PG to another or from a hostel to a shared flat. PG and hostel shifting, item by item
A student room fits in a small vehicle, but the items are awkward. Mattresses fold badly, coolers leak if the tank isn't drained, and a study table with a glass top needs as much care as any sofa.

Routes we run most often for students
Most student and PG moves that Agarwal Packers and Movers handles in Doon stay within a fairly small part of the city, but the roads and the timing differ from one corner to the next.
Prem Nagar, Nanda ki Chowki and Chakrata Road
The busiest PG area in the city, with rows of rooms above shops and inside narrow side lanes. Chakrata Road itself gets heavy through the day, so morning pickups tend to go quicker.
Bidholi, Pondha and towards Selaqui
Further out on the western side, with campuses, hostels and newer rental blocks spread along the road. Distances are longer than they look on a map, which matters if you're moving from here into town.
Clement Town and Bhauwala
Clement Town in the south has its own cluster of student rentals, and parts of it are cantonment land, where a goods vehicle may need entry permission. Bhauwala, further out along the Chakrata Road side, is quieter and more spread out.
Into the city
Final-year students and interns often move from the outskirts towards Ballupur, Vasant Vihar or the Rajpur Road side for a job. That is a longer drive across town and is priced with that in mind.
When students move, and the cheapest way to do it
Student moves bunch up around the academic calendar. If you know which week you're moving, a little planning saves money and stress.
1Semester ends
When exams finish, many rooms empty within the same few days. Book as soon as your last paper is fixed rather than after it.
2The July–August rush
New admissions and returning students arrive together, in the wettest part of the year. Ask for mattress covers and waterproofing, and keep your date a little flexible.
3Share with flatmates
Two or three people leaving the same PG, or moving into the same flat, can share one vehicle and one crew. Tell us all the names and items in one message.
4Pack the soft things
Clothes, bedding and books are safe to box yourself. Leave the cooler, fridge and any glass to the crew.
5Sell what you won't carry
An old cooler or a broken chair often costs more to move than it is worth. Juniors in the same PG are usually happy to buy.
6Weekday mornings
Sundays fill first because that's when friends can help. A weekday morning is easier to get and quicker on the road.

Getting your PG deposit back when you shift
Most PG and room owners in Dehradun take a security deposit and check the room before returning it. A few simple habits make that conversation short.
Give notice in writing
A WhatsApp message to the owner with your leaving date is enough for most PGs, and it gives you a record of when you told them.
Photograph the room
Take pictures of walls, furniture and fittings on your last day, after your things are out and before you hand over the key.
Check the inventory together
If the bed, mattress or almirah belongs to the PG, go through it with the owner so nothing of theirs goes in the vehicle by mistake.
Settle the last bills
Electricity, mess and any pending rent are best cleared before moving day. Ask when and how the deposit will be returned.
Storage over summer, your bike, and sending things home
Going home for the summer and don't want to pay rent on an empty room?
