Car and bike transport in Dehradun

Car and bike transport in Dehradun is for the times when driving or riding the vehicle yourself is the harder option: a family moving up to Mussoorie, a new posting that starts before you can make the trip, or a scooter that should simply travel with the rest of the house. Agarwal Packers and Movers collects the vehicle from your home, records its condition with you, and delivers it to the address you give.

Ship it or drive it?

When vehicle shifting makes more sense than the road

Driving it yourself is often fine. These are the cases where handing it over is the calmer choice.

  • Moving to the hills

Hairpin bends, fog in winter and slippery stretches in the rains make the climb tiring if you are also managing a house move.

Tip: read our guide to moving house up to Mussoorie before fixing the date.

  • Sending it with the household goods

If a truck is already carrying your furniture, a bike or scooter can often go in the same load. One booking, one delivery day, nothing left behind to arrange later.

Tip: mention the vehicle when you book home shifting in Dehradun, so it is part of the survey.

  • A new posting or transfer

You may need to report on a date that leaves no time for a long drive, or you may be flying. The vehicle can follow on a date that suits you.

Tip: keep the joining date and the delivery address in one message to us.

  • Students heading home

A scooter bought during a course at Prem Nagar or Bidholi often needs to go back with the student at the end. Riding it across states is rarely sensible.

Tip: pair it with student and PG room shifting for the cartons.

  • Two vehicles, one driver

A car, a bike and only one person who drives. One vehicle goes by road with you; the other goes with us.

Tip: decide which one you will need first at the new place.

  • A vehicle you care about

An older car, a restored motorcycle, or a new one with no scratches yet, kept off the road for the journey.

Tip: ask about transit insurance when you ask for the quote.

Bike shifting in Dehradun

How a two-wheeler is prepared for transport

Most damage to bikes in transit is small and avoidable: a bent mirror, a scuffed tank, a scratched panel where the bike rubbed against something. The preparation is mostly about stopping that.

  1. Condition check with you

Before anything is wrapped, condition is noted with you at pickup: existing scratches, dents and missing parts. It's worth taking your own photos too, so you have your own record.

  2. Loose parts off

Mirrors are taken off where they unscrew easily, and anything clipped on, like a phone holder, a top box or saddle bags, is removed and handed to you or packed separately.

  3. Padding and wrap

The tank, handlebar ends, lights and side panels get padding first, then the whole bike is covered in protective film. This is what you see in the photo.

  4. Fuel kept low

As general advice, keep the tank low rather than filling up before pickup, with enough to reach a petrol pump at the other end. Ask us what is needed for your vehicle.

  5. Loaded and tied

The bike is loaded upright, tied so it cannot shift on a bend, and kept apart from cartons and furniture with padding in between.

Car carrier from Dehradun

How a car is carried

Cars travel in a car carrier built for vehicles, like the closed carrier in the photo, so the car itself stays off the road for the journey.

On the pickup day, condition is noted with you at your home, whether that is a house in Dalanwala, a society off Sahastradhara Road or a bungalow towards Rajpur. Existing marks are recorded before it is loaded, and you may want to take your own photos as well. Check it with us at delivery.

If your lane is too narrow for a carrier to come in, which happens in parts of the old city and on some hill roads, tell us when you book so a pickup point can be agreed in advance.

Your part: be there, or send someone you trust, at both pickup and delivery. The condition note is only useful if someone from your side has seen it.

Papers to keep ready and what to take out of the vehicle

This is general advice for two-wheeler transport and car shifting. Keep the originals with you and hand over copies only. If you are crossing a state border or the vehicle is on a loan, check with your RTO or lender whether anything else is needed.

ItemWhat to doWhy it helps
RC copyA clear photocopy of the registration certificate. Original stays with you.Shows whose vehicle it is if anyone asks on the way.
ID copyA copy of the owner's ID, such as an Aadhaar card or driving licence.Matches the person booking with the name on the RC.
Insurance copyA copy of the current vehicle insurance policy.Useful to have on file; your own policy may or may not cover transit, so ask your insurer.
KeysOne key handed over at pickup. Keep the spare yourself. The vehicle needs to be moved on and off the truck.
Personal itemsEmpty the glovebox, boot, dashboard and under-seat storage. Remove toll tags or parking stickers you will need.Loose items rattle, break or go missing, and they are not listed in the condition note.
AccessoriesTake off removable mirrors, helmets, bike covers, a car's roof carrier and anything clipped on.They are the parts most likely to get knocked during loading.
Fuel and batteryKeep fuel low and the battery charged. Ask us what is needed for your vehicle.General advice: less fuel is safer in transit, and a vehicle that starts is easier to handle at both ends.

Wash the vehicle a day before pickup if you can. Scratches are much easier to see and photograph on a clean surface.

Price and cover

What car and bike transport costs, and transit insurance

The price is quoted after we know the vehicle, the pickup and delivery addresses, and whether it travels on its own or with your household goods. A scooter going in the same truck as a 2 BHK is a very different job from a car going alone in a carrier. If you'd like transit insurance, it can be added, with its cost quoted on its own so you can decide. Local household shifting ranges are on the moving charges page. For a vehicle leaving Uttarakhand, the main website covers vehicle transport to other cities through our branch network.

FAQ

Questions about vehicle shifting

How do packers and movers shift a bike?

The bike's condition is noted with the owner, loose parts such as mirrors are removed, the tank, handlebars and panels are padded, and the whole bike is wrapped in protective film. It is then loaded upright, tied down so it cannot move, and kept apart from other goods.

Is the petrol drained from a bike before transport?

Keeping the tank low rather than full is sensible, so ride it down in the days before pickup and leave enough to reach a petrol pump after delivery. Ask us what is needed for your vehicle when you book.

What documents are needed for car or bike transport?

Usually copies of the RC, the owner's ID and the vehicle insurance policy. Keep all originals with you. For a vehicle on a loan or crossing a state border, check with your lender or RTO whether anything else is required.

Can my bike go in the same truck as my household goods?

Often, yes. A bike or scooter can travel with the furniture and cartons, wrapped and tied separately with padding around it. Mention it when you book the house move so it is included in the survey and the quote. More on home shifting.

Is insurance available for car and bike transport?

Yes, you can opt for transit insurance, priced apart from the transport charge. Your own vehicle policy may or may not cover damage in transit, so it is worth asking your insurer as well.

How is the vehicle's condition checked at pickup?

We go round the vehicle with you at your home and note existing scratches, dents and missing parts. Take your own photos too if you like, and check it with us at delivery, so please be present at both ends or send someone you trust.
