Home shifting in Dehradun, room by room
This is how home shifting in Dehradun works with Agarwal Packers and Movers when both addresses are inside the city: what we do for a 1, 2 or 3 BHK, how a typical moving day runs from the first carton to the last bed bolt, and what you should sort out yourself beforehand. It starts with a free survey and a written quote.
House shifting in Dehradun for a 1, 2 or 3 BHK
The steps are the same for every household shifting: survey, quote, packing, loading, the drive, unloading and setting up. What changes with size is how long each step takes. The timings below are typical for a local move, not a promise.
| Home size | Typical duration | What usually takes the longest | Worth doing beforehand |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 BHK | Often finished within a single morning or afternoon | The kitchen, which holds more small breakables than people think | Pack your own clothes and books into suitcases |
| 2 BHK | Usually most of one day, start to finish | Wardrobes, a double bed and the sofa set, which need taking apart or careful wrapping | Empty wardrobes and drawers so they can be moved lighter |
| 3 BHK | A full day, and sometimes packing begins the day before | Store rooms, lofts and showcases full of glass and décor | Clear out the loft and decide what is not coming |
Villas and homes full of solid wood furniture can need a second day; the survey tells you.
What happens on the day, hour by hour
A typical 2 BHK move within the city with an early start. Yours may run faster or slower, but the order holds.
Early morning: walk-through
The crew lead walks round with you to note what stays behind, what is fragile and what travels in your own car.
First few hours: packing
Glass and the kitchen go first, while the house is still quiet. Then electronics and furniture. Each carton is marked with its room at the new address.
Late morning: loading
Heavy furniture goes in first, cartons fill the gaps and fragile ones ride on top. You check the empty rooms before the truck leaves.
Midday: the drive
Usually the shortest part, though Clement Town to Rajpur Road takes longer when traffic builds near the ISBT or the clock tower.
Afternoon: unloading and placing
Cartons go straight to the room written on them. Beds, wardrobes and tables that were taken apart are put back together where you want them.
Evening: final check
A last walk-through with the crew lead to move anything that isn't where you want it.
Furniture, kitchen, glass and appliances
Most of the care in a house shift goes into a few kinds of goods. Here is how each is handled.
1Dismantling and reassembly
Beds, wardrobes, dining tables and modular units that won't fit through a door or stairwell in one piece are taken apart. Screws are bagged and taped to their piece, then it is rebuilt at the new home.
2Kitchen
Steel utensils travel well; crockery and spice jars need more care. Plates are packed on edge with paper between them. Use up or seal oil and pickle jars yourself.
3Glass and mirrors
Dressing table mirrors, glass table tops and showcase shelves are removed where possible, wrapped in layers and carried upright, never flat under other goods.
4Fridge and washing machine
Both need defrosting or draining the day before; our packing guide has the full steps.
5AC and wall-mounted TV
Uninstalling a split AC or taking a TV off its wall bracket is technician's work. Arrange your AC service person to uninstall and reinstall, or ask us during the survey and we'll tell you what can be arranged.
Houses, apartments, lanes and slopes
Old bungalows in Dalanwala, narrow mohallas behind Paltan Bazaar, tower blocks on Sahastradhara Road, new houses on the slopes: each changes how the day is planned.

Independent houses
More space, and usually more to move: a garden, a terrace, a garage with tools and a store room. The truck can often reach the gate, but list planters, cycles and garage items at the survey.
Apartments and societies
The lift size and the society's permitted hours matter most. See our notes on society and RWA rules for moving in Dehradun before you fix a date.
Old-city lanes
Where a truck can't turn in, goods are carried to the main road or brought out in a smaller vehicle. Allow extra time, and warn neighbours if parking will block the lane.
Uphill driveways
Steep drives off Rajpur Road, Kishanpur or Malsi can be hard for a loaded truck, especially after rain. Tell us if yours is steep or unpaved, and we'll plan where the vehicle waits.
What local home shifting in Dehradun costs
These are our published ranges for household shifting within the city. Your exact figure comes in writing after the free survey, and the quote lists what is included: packing material, packing, loading, transport, unloading, placing in rooms and reassembly of anything we take apart. When you compare local packers and movers in Dehradun, ask every one of them for the same list.
1 BHK
One bedroom, a small kitchen, and usually one truckload with room to spare.
2 BHK
Two bedrooms, a full kitchen, a fridge and washing machine, a sofa and a dining table.
3 BHK
A bigger household, often with a store room, heavier furniture and plenty of glassware.

Pack a first-night box
Nobody wants to open twenty cartons at night to find a toothbrush. Pack one box or suitcase that travels with you, not in the truck.
- Medicines
- Phone and laptop chargers
- Documents and keys
- Jewellery and cash
- A change of clothes
- Toiletries and a towel
- Bedsheets and pillows
- A kettle, cups and tea
- Torch
- Scissors and tape
Mark any carton you need first with a big star, and tell the crew so it's kept handy.
Vehicles, storage and timing
A house move often comes with a scooter or car to shift, or a gap before the new keys arrive. If you are leaving Dehradun altogether, see our main site for house shifting from Dehradun to other cities.
Questions about house shifting in Dehradun
How do I shift my house within Dehradun?
Book a free survey of your goods and both addresses, get a written quote listing what is included, fix a date that suits your society and lease, and set aside valuables and a first-night box. On the day, the crew packs, loads, moves, unloads and sets furniture up room by room.
How many days does house shifting take in Dehradun?
For a local move, a 1 BHK is often done in half a day and a 2 BHK in most of a day. A 3 BHK typically takes a full day, sometimes with packing started the day before. These are typical, not guaranteed.
Is same-day house shifting possible in Dehradun?
For most local moves, yes: packing, transport and unloading happen on the same day. Booking a move for the same day you call depends on whether a crew and vehicle are free, so call as early as you can.
Do packers and movers dismantle and reassemble furniture?
Yes. Beds, wardrobes, dining tables and similar pieces that need taking apart are dismantled at your old home and reassembled at the new one. This is listed in the written quote.
How early should I book packers and movers in Dehradun?
About a week ahead suits most local moves. Book earlier for the last days of a month, Sundays and festival dates, which fill first.
What is included in home shifting charges?
The written quote spells it out. It normally covers packing material, packing, loading, transport, unloading, placing goods room by room and reassembling furniture we took apart. Car or bike transport and storage are quoted separately. Price guide.
Is insurance available for a local house move?
Yes, you can opt for transit insurance. Ask for its cost at the survey; it is quoted apart from the move itself.
